I currently live in your district and am emailing you to get your support to help bring an end to distracted driving. Please support a new bipartisan HandsFree Bills that were just approved by the Michigan House of Representatives and sent to the Senate, those bills are HB4277, HB4278 and HB4279. Fatal crashes were up on Michigan by 12% in 2020 with a large number of those crashes being caused by Distracted Distracted. I have heard that over 400,000 injuries are caused by Distracted Driving with 10 people or more dying from Distracted Driving crashes. These numbers are too high for any state, let alone our home state of Michigan. We need to send a clear message to drivers that their focus should be on driving safely and not on communicating, posting social media updates, or texting using a mobile device while operating a motor vehicle. Distracted driving deaths and injuries are increasing year by year and we need to take action now to save lives. More than half of U.S. states have already passed hands-free legislation to improve and protect their citizens. Please do your part in making Michigan the 25th state to enact common-sense legislation to help stop distracted driving. Thank you for your time and your support!
